1. Why can't Animal Services respond to dogs running at large after hours?

Animal Service officers are not at the shelter or patrolling the streets after-hours. When a dog is spotted running at large by the public, the dog is not going to stay in the same spot, it is going to be moving. In the past, a great deal of tax payer money was spent to pay overtime for Animal Service officers to look for dogs running at large; the success rate was very low and could not be justified.

2. What do I do if I see a snake in my yard?

Leave it alone if it is just passing through your yard. If it is where you need to be, spray it with water or push it out with a broom or stick.

3. Are Pit Bull type dogs allowed in Sherwood?

No. Pit Bull type dogs are not allowed in Sherwood at this time.

4. How do I volunteer at the shelter?

1. Complete a volunteer application/liability form
2. $20 annual membership fee (get volunteer T-shirt)
3. Complete orientation (approx. 45 mins)
