Sherwood Police Hosting National Night Out Oct. 4
The Sherwood Police Department invites residents to join them during a nationwide community event known as National Night Out from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Sherwood Forest, 1111 W. Maryland Ave. The evening will include food, inflatables, and community engagement.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work. Together, we are making that happen.
Annually, neighbors throughout Sherwood and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening together with neighbors and law enforcement. Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most communities celebrate National Night Out by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.
The Sherwood Police Department is following suit with a night of inflatables, vendors, self-defense demonstrations, emergency vehicles on display, free hot dogs provided by Centennial Bank and music by Piano Man Jack Seabaugh at Sherwood Forest from 5-8 p.m. Indoor vendor booths are free but limited due to space. Vendors must apply for a booth space at: https://bit.ly/spdnno2022. For more information, please call 501-835-1425.
National Night Out is nationally sponsored by NATW, Ring, Starbucks, Associa, FirstNet, Academy Sports & Outdoors, REELZ and co-sponsored locally by the Sherwood Police Department and Centennial Bank.
National Project Coordinator, Matt Peskin said, “This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”
