Our Sherwood District Court processes civil and misdemeanor criminal cases, and supports the work of our District Court Judge. Civil cases may include minor civil disputes among citizens, citations to property owners for Municipal Code violations, traffic offenses, and checks written to businesses or individuals that are returned for insufficient funds. Criminal cases include primarily property damage and thefts. Felony cases are normally referred to the Circuit Courts.
The Court will provide defendants with a Public Defender at no cost, if they cannot afford an Attorney. The Court Clerk and Court staff prepare case dockets for the District Court Judge, and ensure that all supporting information is available at the time of the case hearing.
